Please join us for the Easter events listed below:
Palm Sunday April 13 @ 10:00am: Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week and the coming of Easter, commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem in preparation for what he would do for the world. In the same way that Jesus was greeted by crowds waving palm branches, we will enjoy celebratory music as KCC’s kids lead us in waving palm branches. We will also discuss one of the most puzzling and powerful passages in the Bible.
Good Friday April 18 @ 7:00pm: Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. Good Friday is by design a sobering day that invites us to wrestle with the weight of our sin and the depths of God’s love so that we might celebrate joy of God’s forgiveness and the hope of God’s promises on Easter Sunday. We celebrate a Tenebrae (Latin for “shadows”) service on Good Friday, which is filled with songs about Jesus’ suffering, scripture readings from Jesus’ final week on earth, the lighting and extinguishing of candles, and communion which combine help us reflect on Christ’s suffering for us and the world.
Easter Sunday April 20 @ 10:00am: Easter Sunday marks the celebration of Jesus’s resurrection from the dead, which symbolizes and secures victory over death and the promise of eternal life. Easter at KCC is always a celebratory day that is filled with vibrant music, encouragement from scripture, and reassurance that God is for us, not against us. Jesus, who lived and died and lives again, is able to reconcile us to God and to each other in this life and in the next. Following worship at 10am, we will have coffee and tea for adults, an Easter egg hunt for kids, and a Donut Wall for all.
Easter Egg Hunt April 20 @ 11:30 am: Calling all kids! Have fun hunting for Easter Eggs after the worship service. There will be separate egg hunts for older kids and younger ones. Enjoy donuts to snack on as well!
